Remy operates no backend and receives no quest, location, note or photo data from the app.
Ephemeral Geo · iOS
Privacy Policy
Ephemeral Geo turns an unknown destination into an adventure. Location is used to make that experience work—not to advertise to you or track you across apps and websites.
Effective: 24 August 2026Developer: Remy Moscovitz
Location is used while the app is in use to generate, manage and complete adventures.
No advertising profiles, cross-app tracking or data-broker sharing.
About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Ephemeral Geo handles information when you use the app. Ephemeral Geo is independently developed by Remy Moscovitz.
The app generates coordinates for you to explore, supports quests to those destinations and lets you keep a history of your adventures. It does not use a conventional username-and-password account system, and you do not create a separate Remy Moscovitz account.
Data the app uses
Ephemeral Geo uses precise location for app functionality. It stores app records locally on your device to preserve your experience, including:
- exact quest origin and destination coordinates;
- quest timestamps, radius, status and arrival accuracy;
- place names, favourites and other quest state;
- notes you write and photos you choose to attach; and
- relevant app settings.
Photos are chosen through Apple’s system photo picker. Ephemeral Geo does not request general access to your photo library, take photos with the camera or add images to your photo library. A selected image may contain metadata embedded in the original file.
The app does not require you to provide a name, email address, phone number or physical address to create an account. The current version has no developer-operated backend and does not transmit your quest history, notes or attached photos to Remy Moscovitz.
How location data is used
Location is fundamental to Ephemeral Geo. With your permission, the app uses Apple’s Location Services while the app is in use to access your device’s location. Location updates may continue while the app remains open in the foreground. Location is used to:
- show your current position;
- generate and manage location-based adventures;
- measure progress towards a destination; and
- verify arrival.
Ephemeral Geo does not record the geographical path you travel. The app saves the quest’s origin and destination coordinates. A map may display a straight line between those two saved points, but this is not a recording of your travelled route.
Local storage and backups
Quest records, notes, attached photos and settings are stored in Ephemeral Geo’s local app container on your device. The current version does not use CloudKit and does not provide app-managed synchronisation across devices.
Depending on your Apple device-backup settings, iOS may include app data in an iCloud or computer backup. Those backups are managed through Apple’s services and settings and are subject to Apple’s applicable terms and privacy practices. You can review Apple’s Privacy Policy .
Map and navigation services
Ephemeral Geo uses Apple MapKit, reverse-geocoding and local-search services to display maps and find information about candidate destinations. Candidate coordinates may be sent to Apple as needed to provide those real-time services.
If you choose to open a destination in Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze, Ephemeral Geo passes the exact destination coordinate to the navigation provider you selected. The provider handles that information under its own privacy policy and terms. Ephemeral Geo does not send a recorded travelled path because the app does not record one.
Advertising, analytics and tracking
Ephemeral Geo does not use location or saved adventure data for:
- third-party advertising or targeted advertising;
- developer advertising or marketing;
- analytics or advertising measurement;
- building advertising profiles;
- cross-app or cross-website tracking;
- sale or sharing with data brokers.
Apple uses “tracking” to describe linking app data with third-party data for targeted advertising or advertising measurement, or sharing app data with a data broker. Ephemeral Geo does not use location for those purposes. The current version contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Your location choices
iOS controls access to your location. You can grant, limit or revoke Ephemeral Geo’s access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Ephemeral Geo. Apple provides more detail in its guide to controlling location information on iPhone .
If you disable location access or Precise Location, features that depend on knowing your position—including generating destinations, measuring progress and automatically verifying arrival—may be unavailable or substantially limited. Changing this permission stops future access under the setting you choose; it does not delete app data already stored.
Data retention and deletion
Ephemeral Geo does not currently provide an in-app control to clear quest history. Local quest records—including origin and destination coordinates, notes and attached photos—remain until the app is deleted. Regenerating an unaccepted quest deletes that unaccepted record, but abandoned or expired quest records may remain stored.
Deleting Ephemeral Geo removes its on-device app container. Copies may remain in device backups managed by Apple and may be restorable with a backup. Revoking location access stops future authorised location delivery but does not delete stored records.
Because the current version has no developer backend or CloudKit storage, Remy Moscovitz cannot remotely access or delete your locally stored quest records.
Children’s privacy
Ephemeral Geo is not specifically designed or marketed as a children’s app. If you are a parent or guardian and have a privacy concern about a child’s use of Ephemeral Geo, please contact Remy so the concern can be reviewed.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Ephemeral Geo’s functionality or data practices change, or when clarification is needed. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when a revised policy is published. New data practices will be described when they apply; this policy does not pre-authorise future collection.
